Kings at Campbell Creek

 This Sunday there was a Kid's-only fishing day for King Salmon at Campbell Creek. Grandpa and Uncle Boo took me, Louisa, and Pia to fish there. We were using salmon eggs for bait. Louisa was first. She had her line in the water for only ten seconds when she caught a fish.  ( Does it seem to you that King Salmon are weirdly attracted to Louisa? There's something fishy going on here...)  Then it was my turn. I caught approx. 29 snags, 2 trees, and a bush. Not to mention a stickfish.  (A large, flat, twisted stick that looked strangely like a fish.)  Then Pia caught a fish, a little smaller than Louisa's. I fished for a while more, when I finally got a bite! It was the biggest fish yet, and weighed 20 pounds.  ( Louisa's weighed 15 and Pia's weighed 8.)   Well, needless to say, we had King Salmon for dinner that night! YUM!!!

Music, Music, Music!

On Saturday Ursula, Pia and I participated in a piano recital. Pia played Wishing Star and Snake Dance. I played Toccatina and the theme song from Star Wars. Ursula played a cool piece called Red Rose Rendezvous. Afterwards a person who is participating in a piano compitition in Hawaii played a song. It was awesome. After that, we all had refreshments and lemon water. It was a great recital.

Fishing fit for Kings

Fishing at Ship Creek

This morning Grandpa, Louisa, and I (Ursula) went fishing at Ship Creek for King Salmon. As we neared the parking lot, it seemed that everyone had decided to go fishing on the same day as us. The banks of the river was literally teeming with people who were all fishing.  One guy caught a fish and his friend was taking video, not helping. But he was struggling with the pole and called out, "hey, I need help. Get the net!" Finally the video guy got a tiny net and helped him catch the fish. We had been fishing for a long time when I finally got a bite. It was tugging really hard on the line but I didn't know what to do so I was just holding on to it. Then it got away. After that we fished for a long time and nothing happened. A bunch of people left. We decided to pack up and go home and we had gotten all the poles and gear except for Louisa who was still fishing. Grandpa walked over to her to help her put it away and asked Louisa why her line was moving. She said her line was caught on some rocks. But he realized there was a fish on the end of the line. So he helped her hold it and start to reel it in. He called me to get the net and so I brought it over. He tried to scoop it up several times. We forgot to bring the fish-bonker so we just took the hook out of its mouth. Then we started fishing again. A while after that the tide had gone down and there was too much slippery mud to get close to the water so we had to leave. Guess what is for dinner tonight?

Pia's First Communion

On April 9th, I had my first communion. I wore a pretty white dress with short sleeves. It was really cold outside.  I was in the second pair to enter the church. I got to help bring up the gifts. The church was really warm. For my presents a got a really cool pink Miraculous Medal, a statue of Mary holding Jesus,  a St. Pio medal, a rosary bracelet, a missal, and a first communion picture frame. Right afterwards we went to Oregon on vacation.-Pia
