this is a story I, Louisa, wrote for school
Beep! Beep! Beep! Eight year old Rosalina woke up to the urgent beeping of her alarm clock at 7:00 AM. She reached over and turned it off. She saw that it was Friday when she looked at her calender with a picture of Jesus on His throne in Heaven. Then she remembered that this was the day that she and her classmates were going to have a first quarter test in Religion. She had spent all after dinner studying for it. She took a deep breath and hoped she had studied enough the night before. She put on a white blouse, a green sweater, a green skirt and black knee high socks and black shoes. She went into the bathroom to brush her wavy brown-red hair. When she finished she went downstairs for breakfast with her little sister and older brother, whose names were Susan and Jacob. Susan was only three, but she liked to get up early. Jacob was eleven and very nice. He was the kind of boy who never teased anyone and was shy. While Rosalina was eating breakfast, her brother spoke up, "We have a test in math today."
"We have a test in Religion," said Rosalina.
"Really?" asked their mother. "Good luck, you two."
"Thank you," they said in unison. Then they went off to the bus stop.
"You know," said Jacob, as he kicked at a pebble, "I have a funny feeling something special is going to happen, but I don't know what it is."
"Me too!"exclaimed Rosalina, ''I wonder what's going to happen." Jacob looked like he was going to answer but just then a friend called him over. A few minutes later the bus showed up. Rosalina found a seat near the back with her friend. As they talked they both found out the other was nervous about the test coming up. When the test came she looked at the first question, which was: "St. _________ the Archangel defend us in battle." She filled in the blank and all the others too. Then she put it in her yellow folder and put it on Ms. Peabody's desk, knowing she did her best work. Soon, as the clock ticked closer to the end of class, Ms. Peabody finished grading the tests and handed them out again. At that moment the bell rang and Ms. Peabody said, "Have a good day class!" and the class filed out the door. On the ride home, Rosalina opened her folder and looked at the grade. A+! She was so excited! Her friend, Martha, got an A. There was no plus because she spelled one word wrong, but it was a hard word to spell so no one blamed her. When Rosalina got home she saw her grandmother sitting on the front porch so she began to run, "Grandma! Grandma! You came!" When she got to the front porch she hugged her grandma. Grandma said,"Come on in to the house for homemade spaghetti and French bread."
"Mmmmm," said Jacob. "Yummy! squealed Rosalina. While they were eating dinner, Susan was chattering non stop, the whole time. After dinner, Rosalina's Mom asked "Do you have any homework, Rosalina and Jacob?"
"A little," said Rosalina, "I'll go up to my room now to get it done." So after she did some math and phonics she went back downstairs. Jacob and Susan were with Grandma in the living room and Susan said, "Now tell us Grandma, Now!" while bouncing up and down in excitement. "I'm taking you out for ice cream cones," said Grandma smiling. "Yipee!" cheered Susan. After desert, when she was going to bed, Rosalina said in her mind, "Dear Jesus, thank you for letting me have a great day."
