Soda Slushies

One day this summer we had soda slushies.  This is how you can make them:
Pick an unopened, plastic bottle of soda (16 or 20 oz) and shake it, shake it, shake it ... and then put it in the freezer for two to three hours - don't let it freeze solid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  When it is thoroughly chilled, but not yet frozen, remove carefully from the freezer.  Open slowly... very slowly! Pour into chilled glasses.  The soda will turn into a slushy with any agitation, provided that it is cold enough.  Enjoy!  With love, Cordelia, et al.

Contraption in the Kitchen

 

             Today I read an "I Spy" book that gave me an inspiration. The book had a picture of a big contraption much more complicated than this one. Pia, Cordelia, and I decided to make our own. So we used our blocks, our cars, our dominoes, and a few other things we found around the house. When we finally finished we filmed it. We had a lot of fun on this rainy Sunday.

The Hole in Our Yard

For a while, we have had a hole in our yard in front of our house. Uncle Boo dug it and put all the dirt in two huge piles in our yard on tarps. Uncle Boo and Dad also broke up the sidewalk and took it to be recycled. Now that it rained, we have two mountains of mud and a wheelbarrow full of water in our yard. We're hoping that soon we can fix the hole. Luckily, we have already sealed the side of the house before it started raining. Besides dirt, Uncle Boo also dug up some boards and a couple very old Coke bottles. They must be very old because they were way down there.

 We get to walk across a drawbridge to get in the front door. Mary W. suggested we fill the moat up with water and some fish. Then it would be like living in a castle full of princesses.
