Big Boy

The other day, Reuben asked (very politely) if he could try on Dad's shirt. It fit perfectly, as you can see, and he was very pleased with himself. On another note, I have figured out how to blog from my kindle, which takes a lot more time, but on the other hand is very portable. So yay!

Photo of the Day

This would look so much better in black and white.

Thomas the Tank Engine

Auntie Kristy got Reuben these Thomas books for his birthday, and he's not the only one who enjoys them!

Applesauce

Isn't it amazing that this bucket of apples turns into a delicious dessert, snack, breakfast, or even ice cube? Let us whisk you away on an apple-icous outing! We start with the apples on the tree. (duh) Then, we pick them. (double duh) We bring them home, (triple duh) and put them in a sink full of water.

Then, we cut off the blossom and stem end and collect as many as will fit in the pot. (3lb per qt)   Also, we have our spices standing by. We use cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.

Then we boil the apples with a little water until they're very mushy and put them through a food grinder into a pot. Then we add a little sugar and spice and everything nice.

We stir it all in, can it, and eat it all winter.

Thank you for coming on our Apple-icious tour. Have a good day!

Happy Birthday Reuben!!!

For Reuben's first birthday dinner, we had a wonderful baked pasta and a beautiful salad. Reuben had his own personal birthday cake, and the rest of us shared a yummy apple spice cake. As presents, he got 💲💲from Grandpa Bob and Grandma Betty, an adorable shirt and socks from Aunt Therese, and a pair of sunglasses from me. He loves them.
The cake the rest of us shared.

Oh, that's my cake?

In this picture it really looks like he's blowing out the candle!

I'm cool...
